Southend's Greatest buildings

Following my visit to the bleak and tacky mecca (ballroom) of the east, I thought I'd post a few snaps to show off the architectural splendour.

Hmmm thanks for that, maybe I will go on one of the southend rides in the future.

That "who put this on the seafront" is the old British Gas building at Southend East. I think. They are probably pulling it down for more luxury flats.

The red light district is just round the corner to the right of the Kursaal as you face it (as pictured), adjacent to the Kursaal Estate. I'm told.

Royal Terrace is a rare treat Dell, but I didn't photograph that.

I could post some pics of hideous buildings in York. The Stonebow centre is dreadful 60's concrete, and when it was planned the initial plan was to knock down the Shambles to build more of the same....

I must say Southend doesn't seem to have some lovely clubs, not. I like the Arthur Deco too though.

Everywhere has tat but Sarfend has a higher than average tat to quality ratio!

Having said that, I had a good time and the estuary coast and bleakness has a quality unmatched since my cheap holiday in Chernobyl.

Is the "Golden Hind" or Golden Hind type boat replica still by the Pier? It used to have a rubbish scarey dungeon in it.

Best view is from the end of the pier, at least you are a mile away from it.

A masterpiece. Although not quite as wonderful as the Tolworth Tower
