Is anybody else suffering with endless delays and late running services on Southen Trains?
They introduced a new timetable in December 2008 and since then the service has been dreadful.
The evening services are particularly awful. They've permanently deleted some services and packed everybody else in to the remainder. Then they only supply 8 carriage trains (previously it was 12). In order to get a seat I have to get there 10/15 mins early. Otherwide expect to stand for an hour.
The other night we even had a 15 minute delay because the buffet trolley was on a late train and had to be transferred on to another service so we had to wait around for it to arrive. Since when are we (exorbitant fare paying passengers I mean) expected to wait for the trolley?
Another thing Southern do is if their trains are running late they "decant" the (exorbitant paying) passengers on to the platform and run the train fast to its destination. This is ok for destination passengers of course and results in the train not being recorded as late - great for Southern performance statistics (and ultimately affects whether they have to offfer the 5% reduction in annual fare renewals) - but HEY it left MOST OF ITS PASSENGERS somewhere up the line waiting for the next service.
