Spam was grim. A bit OT, does anyone remember that curious meat thing they served at schools called a 'choppy'? It was well wierd.

I loved Spam Fritters at school (best thing they did, though that's pretty faint praise)!
A few years ago I saw that the chip shop near work did them , so I had one for lunch one day.

Choppys? Were they covered in breadcrumbs? That sounds familiar...

I never knew what was in them. Probably just as well.
The 'Turkey Twizzlers' of their time I suspect.
*goes to look for nice healthy salad to remove memory of god-awful skool dinners*

I still cook thick slices of spam until they are lightly brown each side and then serve them with fried eggs and baked beans. Eaten with brown bread it's food for the gods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
