Driving (I know, shameful) to hit golf balls tonight I saw a dude on the A6 on a road bike with a seriously ace light thingy in his spokes. It looked awesome whizzing around and made him very visible. Anyone got any idea what they are?

have a look for a thing called a "tyrefly"... it rings a bell, and looks like a red/blue circle just inside of the rims

yes, it fits on the valve (I think only shraeder type) so it forms a circle as the wheel spins...

I don't know if I'd want extra weight on my valves adding stress to the join with the tube.

A few grammes? I'm not sure it'd make that much difference...

Anyway, they replace the valve cap, so you take that weight off, and only add a little more...

It wasn't the weight so much as (and I'm guessing here) I expected they 'wiggle' when riding/stopping/etc?

They screw on to the valve caps quite firmly, so no wiggling. I had them on one bike for about a year with no problems. You can get adapters so they fit presta valves.

A word of caution: If you have the tyreflies that have an aluminuim body, make sure you grease the threads before fitting otherwise you will not get them off.
