SPD-SL cleats - Floating v Non floating

I do have MTB SPD for my rockhopper & was considering changing the pedals out on my road bike so I only have the one pair of shoes/cleats to worry about, but really don't want to be shelling out silly money for an extra set of pedals I don't need, especially when I already have the pedals & shoes which are worth £150+

I use the 3 bolt yellows on my road bike but the left one (my standing side) has all but dissapeared. I don't find it a problem tbh. Also have the 2 bolt on my mtb which i find are far easier to clip and unclip but don't give me the same comfort over a longer ride as the wider fitting 3 bolts do.
The only advantage of the 2 bolt i find is walking is easier. I try and avoid that tho

Yeah i saw this, i'm trying to work out the costs of switching systems vs replacing the cleats. A new pair costs £18 plus i'll need new cleatskins @ £14 so £32. If I can get new pedals for half that then it might be worth it

Surprising as the last time my standing foot deteoriated, it got down to the metal and wouldn't clip in/out as smoothly.
