would like one of those myself ,but have to make do with the giant tcr for a while longer. Only heard good things about the spesh roubaix, seems a popular bike.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago and love it. Mind you, I've only been out on it twice and mine was the Expert model (slightly different frame and forks):

Excellent bit of kit and a very smooth ride, but haven't done enough miles on it to give a proper review; and since my other bike is a Sirrus, I can't really compare it to any other road bike either.

I went for the Roubaix because I wanted something fast, but comfortable too! I'm not really suited to racing (more of a racing-spud) so a pure-bred speed machine would be a waste of cash for me.

Smooth, fast, comfortable! xx(

Cheers,
Shaun

 Go for it Maggot!
I have had two. The second one was a frame only as the first developed a rash on the paint job. I kitted it out with Record, Ksyriums and FSA.
The only reservation I'd have after riding a few thousand miles, is sharp descents with rough surface and constantly changing camber. Can be a bit exciting, if you know what I mean. xx(;)

I really like that model you have Shaun...was contemplating that one myself...then my budget changed so had to aim lower down the financial scale. xx(

do they not do the Tarmac?

Yes, they do; found top notch second hand one in Loot just before I got the Allez but I kew it had probably been knicked because the price was so low.

As far as I know the Tarmac is slightly better handling than the Roubaix, It really comes down to if you want to take it to the track or not.

I posted this on another thread back in August

I have a 2006 Roubaix Comp which I bought at the end of last year, at serious discount because it was end-of-year and ex-demo, but completely unmarked.

It's a bit of a 'bitsa', made-up of whatever the bike shop had lying around, I think
- Roubaix Comp frame, full Ultegra gruppo, Fulcrum Race 5 wheels, Cinelli Axis bars, Pinarello MOST stem, S-Works Pave seatpost

It also had Conti GP4Season tyres, but I replaced them because they had the most atrocious wet-weather grip and have put Michelin ProRace2 on - black and red frame, black wheels with red decals, red and black tyres : all looks a bit bling now !

I've also read that the OEM bars are a bit flexy but can't comment - my Cinelli's certainly aren't.

Out-of-the-box it comes with a couple of thick spacers under the stem and a big conical thing, but the bike shop had removed them and cut the stem down, so even though it has a relatively-long headtube the front end of mine isn't anything like as over-high as all the magazine reviews complain of.

I moved-up from a Spesh Allez and find the overall ride fairly similar - predictable and stable.
I got the tape measure out and adjusted all the dimensions the same, now swap between the two bikes - Roubaix for 'best' and sportives, Allez for winter/wet-weather/light-commuting.

On going back to the Allez, I notice just how much smoother and nicer the Roubaix is - not only is there far less vibration and kick from the back end over bumps, but everything seems to operate so much more smoothly too.

Just got back from a week in Provence including Ventoux and some Alpine cols and it handled them superbly.
Unfortunately now has some chips out of the laquer on the chainstay because it blew-over on the top of Ventoux, but it was fast and comfortable for 460miles in a week.

think how long before you can change this bike. For my money go for the spesh comp. If you go for the cheaper bike, well it still looks great, but you'll always be thinking if only I'd spent the extra 200.It's a nice problem to have and I'm very, very jealous.:evil: Seriously though, enjoy your new bike which ever one you plum for and keep it nice and clean.:biggrin::biggrin:

Does anyone own one of these? I am at the brink of buying one, there are 4 shops locally which have one, so it'll be an ugly bidding war for my cash, but will it all be worth it? What are your experiences guys?

It''s this one by the way!

hi mate ....im also on the brink of getting a roubaix ....£999 is the best price i have found ....sat on one at Evans and they are knocking it out at £1200. So now ive got all the advice and goodwill from Evans im off to buy it cheaper elsewhere. Gorgeous bike in the flesh and sooooo light. Im recommending it!
Me and Stevenb have been discussing bikes around the grand mark and reckon the best deals to be had are on the Roubaix, Focus cayo, Felt (which steve has just got and Scott S10 ..also a lovely bike in the flesh and 400 quid off at evans.
