Specialized Creo Turbo

Morning all

I have the opportunity to buy a Specialised Turbo Crew S-Works at a good price and it really is a lovely bike. The chap who is selling it is great, knows his stuff, used to own a bike shop but has now some health issues so is selling it. I rode it yesterday and it rides amazingly, but there is a whine/whirr from the motor. I didn't really take much notice to start with but the more I think about it, the more I think it might annoy me/others I pass or cycle with.

The guy said it's what those motors do from that period of time (it's a 2021 bike). I didn't put a deposit down and came home to Google it and it appears it's a thing for the Creo's of that time. Not sure if the new ones are better or the motor can be changed (I guess it can at vast expense), but I don't really hear that noise from any other e bikes that pass me on the road. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but not sure I can get past the noise or others hearing it....... Has anyone got any experience of these bikes ? Otherwise it's a great bike, runs so well. I have a Tarmac and a Roubaix so know the brand.........

I would be more concerned about the remaining life of a 5 year old battery.

Probably a fair point......No idea whether these things can be replaced or the cost.......

From y experience 5 years is getting to end of life
and add to that - you don;t know how well it is been stored and charged which can seriously shorten life

Some batteries last longer - my Bosch is 6 years old and dropped range a bit but not too much - but then I know I have treated it reasonably well and teh Bosch charging system is good at looking after the batteries

Not sure about this make in those terms - it's not a cheap one so should be a lot better than some I have had - so might be OK

but factor in a possibility of having to replace the battery

Specialized Turbo Creo of that era did have a somewhat whiney motor noise most noticeable when climbing.
New battery would cost about £500 plus fitting cost.

I've had my Creo 2 Comp for several months now and have used it on a variety of terrain. I'm really impressed with its capability. It pedals well with the assist modes turned off as well. Yesterday I thought I'd test it on one of e-mtb routes to see if I could get round it OK. It was great. Very capable.
