Why buy a tracking device & pay an annual tracking fee for a £200 2nd hand bike.
This is only worthwhile if you're bike is say £1500 or maybe £2k upwards.
Insurance policy ??
See what your house insurance policy covers you for - or go to a specialist like Velosure or CycleGaurd.
Sometimes paying a little extra to upgrade your home insurance is the way to go.
Either way - bike gets stolen - claim - buy another.

Buy a new Carerra Subway or a second hand Specialized Sirrus, both very reliable and on budget.

How much do you think the Claud Butler is worth now, is £100 a good price for it?

Link is on the original post.

Do you have a link, pictures? What do they sell on eBay for? Value will depend on condition and how much a buyer wants to pay (and how many buyers want it)

£100 isn't much for a bike as long as you don't need to spend the same again or more making it roadworthy!

I'm thinking about reliability, if I just buy a simple bike like the langster then not much can go wrong with it.

What bike do you think will go faster?

How old are you, how fit are you? What types of terrain are you riding?

That's an impossible question to answer

20 years old, I have quite strong legs but I need to do more cardio, I do squats and deadlifts as I am also a bodybuilder so my legs are starting to become quite strong.

If you are 20 and do squats the silver one will go faster .

In case no one else has googled it, the Vitesse is a £200(tesco)/£150 (amazon) road bike, with twist gear shifts! http://www.tesco.com/direct/vitesse-sprint-race-700c-road-bike/208-9191.prd

You're never going to have much luck with a new road bicycle that cheap. What you've described is the problems always reported with a bike that cheap. Just put it down to experience, but be assured better bikes will perform infinitely better. (The gear shifters on that bike are only designed for a flat bar, I've never heard of them on drop bars)

I think you'll do fine with a single speed: I'm a woman and more than twice your age, and when the gear cable seized on my folder, I continued my 32 mile commute, as it was nearly flat ... oh, and cycled to Brighton with only the one speed. I've also down a hilly 200km with a man (also more than twice your age) who did it all on a fixed.

However, if you can up your budget a little ,you may consider a triban 3 (red model preferred) http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3-red-road-bike-id_8274036.html Search these forums for more information. Wildly regarded as the cheapest road bike worth buying, and should do you very welll.

I bought the specialized langster today, I won't be taking it to work as it'll get stolen. I'm going to buy a cheap scooter to get to work, I'm going to make sure that it is maintained, at least if I maintain it, I won't lose that much money if I decide to sell it later on.

How much do you think a broken Vittesse will go for by the way?

Nothing, give it to a local bike charity who can fix and get some benefit from it. New year feel good factor

How is a scooter cheaper than a couple of good locks, once you purchase, insure, maintain, tax, fuel, buy equipment? Unless you mean one of the kiddie self propelled ones?!

It's a really good bike, much better than the vittesse sprint.

When I said scooter I mean a kids scooter, not the motor powered scooters.
