Hi Guys, any advice on which would be most suited for commuting approx 10 miles a day on roads and cycle paths.

Can you purchase matching colour mudguards for the colour of the bike?

Appreciate your advice.

There both practically the same good quality bike and both would easily be up to the job; there'll be subtle differences in the components but thats about it (I'd expect the Elite to be better equipped), the decision is up to you.
I've had mudguards in black and silver; I've never seen them in other colours that's not to say they don't exist though.

I've got a 2010 elite and love it, I have a daily 10 mile commute which is no problem. I did add mudguards & rack and replaced the tyres for Shwalbe Marathons to chase away the puncture fairy, nothing worse than punctures when you're relying on it each day. I would add that if you're adding mudguards be aware of the brake assembly clearance (it's fairly tight), it's likely a bit of tinkering and extension to the mudguard brackets will be required, nothing that should be beyond a good bike shop or someone with a bit of mechanical experience. I've use the bike on roads and tracks/trails and also some light touring with no problems.

I've got the basic sirrus.
I do a 13 miles commute with tortec expadition rear rack and narrow road SKS guards( you can get them in black, silver or white).
I've put conti gatorskins 23c tyres and regularly go along the canal towpath around me(none of which is mud I'll add but compact gravel) I've also got barends on just to break the stiffness of one hand position.

Superb bike.
