Specialized tourer SPD shoes

I am moving away from SPD-SL shoes and pedals as
a) i'm not a racer and
b) i like to walk around places once i cycle there ...

Have seen these tourers at my LBS and they look really good, road shoe styling but with a recessed cleat and rubber none slip tread underneath.

Not with them, but i use the Shimano RT82 which are fantastic.

The 2014 Mavic tourer looks good as well.

A600 pedals look good as well.

I have a very similar pair which I use for my road bike. Great shoes. I bought a pair a size larger than my normal shoes as I have a wide foot and so I wanted to move my toes about. It weill also taker a thicker sock for the winter months. I also bought set of Shimano PDA600 SPD pedals which give a bit more support than ordinary MTB pedals.

I have a pair and they are very good shoe's. Not the stiffest sole, but good enough.

Yes. good shoe with a decently solid sole - enough for 40-50 miles non-stop without hot-foot. Quite a wide fitting (I think I got away with a 7.5 equivalent on my superwide size 6.5 feet), and the velcro straps mean they're adjustable. Very light and airy - good for the summer, but no so good in the rain and wind.

Thanks chaps. Without realising my ride buddy has the rt82's and they are similar to the ones i linked. Will go and try them tommorow and hopefully buy. I bought A520 pedals from a CC member, so the plan is to give them a go. If i don't get on with them the 600's look a good bet

My first ride with Specualized tourers and the a520's .... Absolutely loved the road styling, and the convenience of being able to walk around. SOLD on spd now.

Slightly numb left foot yesterday ... Do i need to move the cleat slightly forward or backwards. It feels like it's closer to my toes than the right cleat?

move the cleat back towards your heel.

Took me ages to get mine right, but at least the cleats dont wear as quick as spd-sl.

The a600 pedals are also a bit wider so are more supportive.

Tried that today on my 21 mile ride. It was great to take the best bike into London and walk around after the #spaceforcycling event.
Still feel both cleats could do with moving back a little further, but as you say it takes time to find your own sweet spot.
Seriously thinking about another set of pedals for the hybrid and will be me sorted on both bikes

I'm still using toe clips quite happily and wearing enclosed sandals to ride.
Quite like the idea of SPD shoes and pedals but have no idea as to which combination.
Like the OP I want to be comfortable whilst riding but also able to use the same shoes to walk around, again in comfort - any ideas?

Yesterday I cycled to Woodhall Spa, parked my bike up for a stroll and came across several cyclist hobbling along in their cycle shoes like they were walking in high heels!

I would try some M520 pedals and some touring shoes. Specialized, Mavic and Shimano have them, but countless others i didn't explore.
I was a little tentative as i've always used SPD-SL on my road bike, but those tensions soon passed. I cycled to out garden centre and walked around with ease, even had a cold drink in the cafe area, as they said it was fine to bring the bike inside.
