Amazing. My cousin's husband had a crack at this with his search & rescue team-mates but they had to bail out due to injury. Hats off to anyone even attempting it !

I rode to the top of the Snake Pass (where the Pennine Way crosses) on the 13th and found a Mountain Rescue vehicle there "for a fell race". I wonder if that was this race?

I have to say the conditions were absolutely atrocious that day with 30mph winds, thick fog and driving rain. The MR guys even offered me a hot drink as I looked like I needed it. Can't imagine running hundreds of miles in those conditions, I bailed, went home and had a hot shower

A genuinely amazing achievement. At first I thought it was quite slow.....and then I realised she wasn't cycling, but running, over 10 marathons worth, in January too. super harsh

Women truely are a match for or even better than men over the ultra ultra distances.

There was a similar story a few weeks ago, of another crazy indurance event won by a woman.

162.9 miles in 24 hours. I appreaciate the conditions are easier, but still bonkers mileage in one single run.

Yes but 40 miles a day gives enough time for sleep. About the twice the average distance if you walk it as a holiday, staying in YHA and bed and breakfasts each night. Plus in winter so darkness and cold will be biggest difference.
