Hi all, i have a set of Shimano RS20's on my Cannondale Synapse and i have had 2 broken spokes so far,first incident happened a few months ago when the spoke broke in the middle of a 50 mile ride , and last Saturday i went out for a morning ride and a few hours later while sat on the sofa i heard a loud bang from the conservatory where my bike was and the spoke had snapped and shot out back through the hub and hit the glass door!.
First time i took it to LBS who replaced spoke and trued wheel and second time i ordered the spoke on the internet (with some spares)and i have just fitted it myself,wheel seems true enough but have not been out on it yet.
Questions are, is it normal to have to replace broken spokes now and then?
Why would a spoke break while im not even on the bike?
Do any of you carry spare spokes on rides just in case?
Oh, both times they have broken on the nipple end and they are more or less opposite each other in the wheel.
