Not quite the same, but due to the way our garden is and the fact that it is surrounded by a wall that takes a while to walk around, we are convinced that a person or persons are using our back garden as a shortcut, and have been doing for quite a while. I'd probably just about crap myself if I saw someone walking past the window in the middle of the night....


I guess we should really set up a camera..... which is maybe what you can do too if you are concerned Viking!

Camera? I'd be thinking more along the lines of an air rifle with a night sight!

No no, no nastyness, I am more curious than anything else as to who it is, I mean, if they were casing our house out then they would have burgled us long before now.... unless its an oportunist thief of course.

The thing about it is that despite it being a shortcut, it is only really to the back gardens as we are at the end of a row of houses. I have never heard of any problems, and whoever it is doesn't do any damage or leave much evidence if anything, so, I'm not sure if its a thief or someone who lives in one of the other houses taking a swift detour

If your convinced the kettle is faulty, make certai you keep some water in it at all times. Used to have a kettle that turned itself on. Bi-metallic strip on the switch throw too easy, turning the kettle on. Eventually burned itself out when left without water.

Put some fat along the top of one of the walls & watch out for anyone with extra washing on the line the following day.

I think the walls would be a bit too tall for your average fox, and anyway, would a fox open gates and do other human like things?
There are not many foxes in this area anyway, in fact, you are more likely to see Hedgehogs, not that that's any better!

they can easily clear an 8 ft wall. I've seen them do it at my mums. Get a camera .... We all are curious now

Their getting clever these days, you never know. Stay up one night and see. The night you do decide to stay up, nothing will happen, you realise that!

Then thought of Mad Doug biker sitting out all night reminds me of the Jasper Carrot stand up routine where he says he sat on a revolving chair all night looking for moles with a torch strapped to a shotgun.... am I showing my age here as it must have been early 80's
