A few years back, I visited Crufts and saw (I think) the first ever demonstration of Canix at the event. It is competitive running with your dog. Canine Cross Country.... CANIX!!

The whole spectacle of it, the noise (the film doesn't demonstrate that enough! Much), the sheer enthusiasm of the dogs, bouncing off the walls, and the runners and the introduction of both the runner and their dog made me want to do it with my dog.
So, I went to their stand, and after getting clearance for my 3 legged Staffie, I joined and went home to start practicing.

I started running with Cindy, but she was never quite right with it, and unfortunately, Cindy now has Athritis in her back leg, so I never got to compete with her. At the time the events were all down south anyway.

The first 5 legged Canix competitor was not to be!

Anyway, here is a film from this year's Crufts of what I saw all those years ago. Note particularly the woman in the wheelchair/recumbantish thing at 4.30, and the boy at 18.00 onwards.

Its loud, its fast, its frantic, its Canix!!
GRRRRREAT stuff!:

No no, Colly is actually a dog pretending to be a person. He has an owner though.

Despite my wiry build, i was always good at rugby at school but never took it any further.
Archery...it seemed whenever i had a go at it in country fairs etc, i'd always do well. I've always wanted to get more involved, but its slipped by like so many things...

I did Archery for a while. All was good, but it eventually got to the point where I suddenly realised that I could hit the bullseye with every shot, but..... then what??

I started doing other things instead after that.

I tell you what though, if I rescue another dog in the future, then I'll so be doing Canix!! (unless its an old doddery soul just in search of a quiet life of course).
