You don't usually get them that short. Why not just go out and ride 35 miles - it's the same thing.

As mentioned not many sportives are that short .If you fancy doing a group event instead of just riding on your own if you can stretch to 60 miles there are lots of 100km audax and a few (but not many) 50 km events, rides are based all over the country.
The big differences between audax and sportive is Audax is a club so not run for profit. Usually 100 km events cost about £5 which may or may not include some food.
Also Audax is about self reliance, the route isnt signposted ,you are given a route card (GPS files are available for some rides)
Also you should carry basic tools and spare innertube or two plus a chain link connector as theres no broom wagon to pick you up.

Hmmm, might try 3 laps instead of that bloody great big hill that's in it on the longer route.

But the hill's are what make it worth getting out of bed for! Otherwise it is just another slog around the shoot covered Cheshire lanes.

Indeed .. any you can pay yourself £25 for the privilege
true - but if you want to replicate the authentic sportive experience, you will need to pay it to someone else...
And do the ride surrounded by lots of people who don't know how to ride in groups...

To be fair, that line has been around as long as sportives. Or just do a race - no need to pretend then...

Why not try a charity ride? They're more flexible on distance, you get to ride in an organised event (some of them awesome) and raise money for good causes
