Five strand wire. Sent into the bush with hand tools, a month's rations, and a dog for company. Cut posts, dig holes, and strain wires all by hand. Points for distance and straightness of line. He's a sport that will make Test Cricket rivetting.
Most wire nowadays is two or three strand. Or did you mean rows?

Five strands of wire. Or as you describe it - five rows of wire.

Bring back Cricket, apparently we are still Olympic Champions from the one game played against France at the 1900 Olympic Games.

On second thoughts let's not bring it back, that way we stay Olympic Champions at at least one sport!

Any points for looking after the dog? If not, I'd be using it as extra rations.

I like the tennis and this the new addition of rugby 7s is great in my opinion. I would be against say union or league but quick paced 7s is ideal.

For the same reason footballs inclusion is beyond me plenty of high budget football events worldwide so how about futsal as a quick paced event instead.

Any sport where equipment costs limit athletes from poorer nations, sailing/cycling etc unless there is more support for them to have better kit. In my opinion a major factor in winning shouldn't be a technological arms race.

I'm sure it's a great sport for enthusiasts, but for me it doesn't work unless they are dressed as D'Artagnan and Porthos.
Yes. Swinging on chandeliers and jumping off balconies would add to the excitement.

Anything that involves a panel of judges scoring the sport. To subjective as each member of the panel will all score slightly different.

Slightly beaten to it by cisamcgu.

I do wonder about the subjectivity of events that are won or lost on Judges' scores.

Also, what is Triple Jump all about. I can understand Long Jump and High Jump, and, at a push, jumping over a bl**dy high bar with the aid of a springy long stick, but what is it with seeing how far you can hop, step and then jump? The old fashioned standing long jump makes more sense to me.

My wife, who has a better insight into the female psyche than myself, was talking about the gymnastics. She isn't a sports monkey, and only really likes F1, but she loves the gymnastics.

The womens gymnastics seems like some kind of relic from old-fashioned sexism, with the balls, ribbons, etc, all done to music for women, but blokes purely trying to show off their strength and prowess. My wife commented that the music thing is a bit strange, as they aren't really dancing, although can appreciate that they have to match the rhythm of the song. However when the men do their floor exercises, it seems a bit cold and aimless without a sound track. So we are still undecided as to whether the music is good or not, and as a consequence, whether gymnasics ought be about more than just a combination of how well you can do the moves, and how difficult a move can you pull off, or whether rhythm and artistry is part of this sport too.
