Sports that shouldn't be in the Olympics

Well, write it down boy ......
In the spirit of the original games, where the sports bore some relation to life, will this be a competition in which participants have - say - 5 minutes to get as much scrap metal back over the wall as they can. Most weight wins.
My only reservation about the wall climbing is that I'm sure some people will only watch for the ones who fall off, although I suppose the length of the scream as the competitor plunged to their death might form part of the marking system. And the posthumous gold medal is awarded to .......

Kabbadi was on Channel 4 many many years ago. Absolutely fascinating
Used to enjoy watching that

I think an interesting question is which sports make for the best viewing?
The white water kayaking looks great, as does the table tennis. I don't play/do either and am unsure of the rules, but they are great viewing.
In a similar vein, apparently at the next Olympics wall climbing is in. Again, I have never done that, but I suspect it'll make for good viewing.

I'm with you on the wall climbing but only if there are no safety ropes involved. I may stretch to a mattress on the floor

Who was doing the commentating? It sounded like they really knew their stuff and were passionate about it. I'd hate to be a judge though - all over in the blink of an eye.
I think one of the commentators is an ex-diver himself. If its the person I'm thinking of, he is rather amusingly over-enthusiastic for the British, though!

How would you score this though?

Next point of contact is either the right foot where her two hands are, or she pushes off with both arms for the red "rock" at which she is now looking!

But climbing is supposed to be a real sport, not reduced to a mere game like they have at the olympics

Any points for looking after the dog? If not, I'd be using it as extra rations.
Then you'd have to retrieve any rabbits you shoot yourself.
Any sport where equipment costs limit athletes from poorer nations, sailing/cycling
Golf, sailing, equestrian...maybe, but I think you can progress a long way cycling on basic equipment (don't tell @jamma)
Slightly beaten to it by cisamcgu
And thoroughly beaten to it by @rikki on page 1...

Sports where the result can only be determined by the subjective scoring of judges.

I trust that the beach vollleyball will take place on a real beach.
If it's not, get rid...

Beach volleyball should be called bikini volleyball. The most important aspect is everyone is in swimwear.

Get rid of all swimming except freestyle. What's the point of a race where you don't go as fast as you are capable of.
Race walking, too, I assume?
Quite right, bloody ancient Greeks, what did they know about the olympics bringing in stupid sports like that ?
Ancient Olympics didn't include anything like floor gymnastics. It was runnin' and throwin' and fightin'.

My only reservation about the wall climbing is that I'm sure some people will only watch for the ones who fall off, a
There's absolutely no reason not to use ropes.

Does that include synchronised diving?

No. It's the dance aspect, not the synchronicity that annoys me..

If there was an event called "swimming" that involved an Ester Williams impersonation, I'd be against that too.

There's something rather odd about the objection to sports that involve 'judging' or 'interpretation'... something a bit stale, male and lacking in empathy and openness.

I have very mixed feelings about the Olympics in general. I always love watching them, but I'm also aware of the damage that the way they have been going does to economies and places. They are very rarely beneficial to the people and places that host them in retrospect.
