I was driving my lorry on the M25 back to the depot, it was 6 a.m and light.
!

Whereabouts on the M25 were you? I live close by to the northern section. Not that I am a Lynx or a Puma, but my local rides take me past, over and under the motorway at various points. I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

Tell me about it. We went to a monkey place in France once and one of them nicked my baccy out of my shirt pocket. Thieving little bleeders.

They can be aggressive, in the mating season especially.

That explains a lot. There's no way it would have been able to roll a fag, as the papers were in my trouser pocket. Perhaps it just wanted a shag?

There are escapees out there, private zoos have "lost" big cats over the years..
IIRC there are more tigers in zoos or as pets in the US than the entire wild population.
[Jenny Agutter] looked pretty hot dressed as a nun in call the midwife........
And <cough> even better in Walkabout.

Cougar. Do you see what I did there?

S, that closes the circle and clears up the mystery. The black thing with the long tail on the bridge was indeed Omar on his way to film this week's episode of "Interracial hardcore cougar nuns."

How close were you? How fast were you travelling? Did you have any reference by which to judge its size (height of the animal compared to the railings, for instance?) Have you ever seen a puma, or a lynx? Lynxs vary in size, but are tiny compared with pumas.

Their survival isn't an issue. That's easy. But to survive and establish breeding populations, and for those populations to make 2 or 3 kills per animal per week, and not leave any verifiable physical evidence? That's harder to credit.
A couple of weeks ago I was sat in a public square and I wondered to myself why the country is not littered with dead pigeons. What happens to the pigeons when they die? My guess is that they are eaten whole by big cats.
And they wouldn't leave a trace either. My labrador doesn't if he's lucky enough (!) to find a rank, dead pigeon!
