... The fair weather cyclists seem to be about in numbers it seems.

One point though, last night whilst cycling home I had the most unfortunate incident with a wheelsucker. Whilst trying to get my cadence up and have an nice ride home I passed a guy on a MTB spinning like mad, I passed and thought nothing of it but soon found out he was panting behind me confidence growing by the second on my wheel, I took about a mile of this whilst dodging pot holes, traffic and fighting a headwind up a slight incline, I wouldnt have minded if he had took a turn on the front as I turned and nodded for him to have a go which was ignored. I usually would have buried myself and him with a quick nod and wink and be off but yesterday I had a small climb and my heart wasnt in it... Instead of asserting my lycra cycling prowess I checked for traffic and slammed on the brakes, a quick glance he had hit his front brake a tad too hard and had a slight off.

If you are reading this Meanwood Rd drafter, I am sorry but pull you effin weight if you want a lift.

I missed that part about brake testing. Not a wise idea. An MTB can make a nice mess of a road bike/hybrid. My MTB demolishes cars ! You'd also risk a fat ear if the rider could catch you.

You shouldn't be getting stressed about a rider sitting on your wheel. If someone does it to me, I'll continue at my pace, but point out road obsticals to them like you would on a club run. Doesn't bother me, and I've had quite a few 'thanks for the tow' !

Poor guy was on a MTB - maybe he just didn't have the energy to take a turn up front.
Speculation aside, I don't agree with what you did - seeing you couldn't be bothered to drop him slowing down enough to force him to pass would have sufficed. A little bit of freeloading doesn't warrant an off. Have a bit of respect for a fellow cyclist.

Maybe the brake test was a little harsh but... What if I was the beginner and I had some sweaty middle aged fella trying to cycle inches off my back wheel, does he does this to women as well maybe? Lesson learnt for him and me, I will just drop him in future and he wont be so stupid and rude as to ride someones wheel without acknowledging them.

And if a 'fair weather cyclists' brake tested you and caused you to have an off that would be OK then??

I would make contact with said person or would hang back enough to cover any braking moves. As I said I was out of order but if he had taken my back wheel out and I had an off due to his daftness I am pretty sure he would be off quick sharpish leaving me to pay the price.

I don't think someones stupid and rude behavior gives a person the right to put there life in potential jeopardy. What if this person had really hurt them self in the off?
