SQL Server 2008 by the back door!

Dammed SQL Server 2005 and Win 7, just spent all day in the office trying to sort win 7 and SQL Server 2005 it crashed on me on This morning in the middle of on restoring a db, then would not uninstall had to rever the pc back to Vista and then put SQL server back on. Now find when we payed for SQL server a year or so ago it will not install on Vista any more and is throwing up compatabilaty warning what Microsoft doing ripping of developers and forcing them on to the later technology by the back door had to resort to the free version not happy and spoke to the boss and he not happy god I going to get sacked!

You should have used a proper database, like Oracle!!

its installer is shoot - I've bollocksed up at least one machine with it before, and I know what i'm doing - so i dread to think how you lot who don't manage with it.
not sure but I think the difficulty comes when you have got client tools of 2008 installed with db engines of 2005, and then you try and upgrade the db engines to 2008 - it gets into a state when it won't install because it thinks it's already installed, and it won't uninstall because it hasn't got enough information about what features are installed. Fwiw we've never really trusted 2008 at my place, and pretty much stick exclusively to 2005.
