St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay routes

Hi everyone
A friend and I are planning on cycling from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay in May this year and I'm struggling to find some good routes. I have been planning my own but wondered if anyone had any suggestions? We're doing it on Cyclocross bikes so the mountain bike route isn't an option. Looking to do it on roads, lanes and light off route trails. Planning on starting in St Bees in a Friday morning and doing it over three days, so any suggestions where to stay for the two nights most welcome.
