Stacking 1543's

Got my DAC kit (single tda 1543 and DIR 9001) up and running with pretty good sound.

Next step is to stack 7 more 1543's on top of the existing one - I am a complete numpty as regards electrical stuff so any advice would be gratefully received.

Lol ^_^ -I have a good CD player with naff internals so the sound is also crap.

I can hook up a good amplifier to the analogue out which improves things but doesn't reproduce the quality you get with vinyl.

So the next step is to put a Digital Audio Converter between the CD player and the amp.

At the back is a little optical out socket which takes the info off the CD and feeds it to a DAC which converts the digital info into audio with improved quality.

However someone found that you get even better results by stacking several DAC chips to smooth out any imperfections - so that's my next task but I think I will have to also adjust some Resistors and introduce a heatsink etc etc and it's here that my lack of electronics knowledge shows up:sad:

Ah, All is as clear as mud !

Got a digital out on my Technics CD changer, but it's all hooked up in analogue to my JVC seperates system (which is about 27 years old).
Where did you get the kit from, Pete?

I've just about had it with CDs (and I have a decent Cambridge Audio player and a good amp).
There is quite a big DAC building community Mort and quite a lot of different ideas mainly centred around using different DAC's and improving the clock.

I bought this starter kit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/High-end-...?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item2ebc12f5a0

This uses a £1 DAC with no clock improvement and basically adds a nice bit of life to my CD's. You then want to add more!

My next step is to get a stack of 8 1543's which reportedly give a great improvement.

Have a look at diyAudio forum re DAC's - you need to look for Non Oversampling (NOS) DAC's
which don't have filters to avoid distortion so they stack them to average out the expected distortion (I think!).
