Getting a bit excited now folks. Tomorrow sees me going to have another ride on my new bike of choice. It's taken a while and hours of researching and at times frustration.
Patience was the key. Glad I waited for next years bikes to come out as it looks even better than this years. (imo)

Looking to buy a brand spanking new Giant Defy Advanced 2.

The bike is in stock and available to try.

Absolutely buzzing, won't be getting much sleep tonight

Nice! In yellow and black?

I got very excited yesterday, when I went to my LBS and saw the box my new bike was in. Can't wait until next Thursday when it's built up ready for final fitting and tweaking.

A good day yesterday. Over at the bike shop in the morning. Bike was waiting for me in the back and was ceremoniously wheeled out for my initial viewing. It looked beautiful!!!
The guy stuck some of those cheap pedals on to let me have a ride round and also to get a look at me on the bike. Seat was adjusted but other than that it fit perfectly.

Brought the bike home amidst glorious sunshine. Fitted pedals, cages, saddle bag and Garmin mount just before the heavens opened and biblical proportions of rain pelted down. Pride and joy swiftly stowed away in the garage.
Sunny start to the day today. Strong winds then down came the rain again! Bike has remained in the garage all day. Itching to get out for a blast but it ain't happening. The initial outing has to be a dry one!

I know exactly how you feel. I collected my brand new Liv Avail Advanced Pro yesterday. Mine is a 2015 version but all the better as it had £800 knocked off the price in the sale.
I moved all the gear over from my old bike last night so was ready for a ride on it in glorious sunshine first thing this morning. Felt like I was flying. then realised I had the wind behind me.
Loved it.

@Onthedrops have you managed to get out yet? If yes, how was your first ride?

Just back from a short 7 mile ride. 1st impressions.......... Wow!!! It's fast!

A bit hilly round here so kicked off with a downhill section. Disc brakes pulled me up safely at the 1st junction. Carried on a long downhill section and flicked through the gears to suit. The gears were silky smooth with no notchiness noticed at all. Flicked back down the cassette as the road inclined. The 25mm tyres rolled well and smoothly, a marked improvement on my previous 23's.

I was initially a bit concerned with the climbing ability having been used to a triple set up on my previous bike. I needn't have worried. The bike spun up the hills with relative ease.
Returned home very pleased with my new bike. I have to admit to feeling a bit knackered owing to lack of ride time recently. 7 miles is nothing, but to hit the hills I did from cold wasn't too bad an effort.

More bike time and improvement in fitness should make the bike a joy to own.

Not sure about the saddle though. Maybe the first change. Never seem to get on with saddles though, think I may need a saddle fit.

Bike looks beautiful ! And great to see someone with handlebars sloping up even higher than mine :okay:

Saddles are someting you need to try out properly, it's very hard to get a good guage of one until you've ridden several rides. I was sure the one on my new Rose was going to kill me, but after 3 rides (over 100 miles) I'm now not so sure.

Thanks Andy. Haven't touched anything yet. I did wonder if there was too much upslope going on with the bars. Considering flipping the stem to aid the comfort factor. I'm pretty flexible for an old 'un but may as well make the ride as comfortable as possible.

Shouldn't have to flip the stem. Just undo the bolts, lower the bars and tighten them up. High's perfectly ok, it's whatever suits you.
