It's what we were originally promised.
Whilst the first 3 were being made Lucas came out with a statement of it being the middle of a trilogy of trilogies. To be made in the order, mid 3, 1st 3, last 3
I'd figured we were lucky that Lucas did the second 3. Then figured he'd lost it as rather than do the last, he continually re-edited and reformatted the originals.
I guess seeing as it's 35 years since the originals Mark Hamill and some of the rest could return...?

"I find your lack of pants disturbing."

TBH disney couldn't do worse then lucas did making 1,2 and 3 and butchering the original trilogy.
the day i saw episode one i went home and re-created the funeral scene from ROTJ with all my star wars stuff (just like tim does in spaced)

anyways i was always more of a star trek fan...

It's quite clear from the recent trilogy that Lucas actually had no idea of the backstory and was pretty much making it up when he said that he had the plot for 9 films. This way at least he doesn't have to embarass himself again. I'm not going to bother. The first two were fun when I was a kid and still hold up. The 3rd was already showing signs of Lucas's failings. The recent three were terrible. And to be honest, he was never going to make anything as good as THX1138 again anyway. He's not much cop as a director or a storyteller.

Still haven't watched Episode III yet.
I much prefer the original Star Wars (1977) film, plus Empire and Jedi.

I only saw episode III a couple of weeks ago, on telly. I'm glad I did because a) I now know how that boy turned into Darth Vader, and b) I'll never have to see it again.
