I stopped taking statins. I was having dizzy spells and could not walk up even a few stairs without being exhausted. Stopped taking them and all went away.

Ezetimibe aka Ezetrol is not a statin. It's a cholesterol absorption inhibitor, so it stops your body supplementing the cholesterol it makes with more from your food. Statins work by impairing the body's ability to make cholesterol. The other common approaches are the old bile acid sequestrants, which cause the body to use some cholesterol up to replace the trapped bile acids; the new PCSK9 inhibitors (Repatha, Pravalent) which impair the body's ability to kill off old cholesterol receptors so they result in more cholesterol getting taken out of the bloodstream; and fibrates that I forget how they work and haven't time to look up right now  Sorry if I've written that here before.
thanks for the suggestion - I phoned up the local surgery and was given an appointment for a heart /circulation assessment and have just had the results back, as Low risk, Cholesterol 4.4, blood pressure normal, they also did a whole lot of other blood tests like Liver, Thyroid etc and presumably they all come back normal too. Considering my healthy lifestyle these days, good food, no booze and a 100 mile a week on the bike I would have been a bit disappointed with anything else.
Absolutely no guarantee of success, although it should hopefully help. My brother was doing more when he developed problems and doing it like that all his life. One thing that has always confused me, he developed these problems and his cholesterol level tests were coming back negative, yet he needed 5 stents to one side only which apparently shows more genetic as life style.
