People listening to music on Spotify and MP3 downloads ! the worst format ever produced

How can you people listen to music on such a poor format ?

People just don't know these bands, but often know the music

When you look at adverts and themes it is surprising just how many songs are well known, but no-one knows the artist.

Fleetwood Mac is a prime example, how many kids have never heard of them, but would all recognise this riff:

The other "loss" is the album cover itself.

Amongst many others I still have the Original "School's Out" which folded into a desk and and a pair of knickers in it. I also have the Manfred Mann's Earthband with the original deed to a hill in Wales.

Hats off to th equo for doing what they did/do...but it's not for me...great live band, but to listen to on cd...hmm...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Deep Purple "Made in Japan" is said to be the best and original double live rock album. It is one of my favourites from the distant past.

I bought the remastered CD version last week, "can we have everything louder than everything else" Wow

Of course The Quo completed part of their apprenticeship at Butlins, there is only one Quo !!

I still listen to Made in Japan. I've also got the triple CD of the Japan concerts and you can hear Ian Gillan laugh when Blackmore fluffs the intro to 'Smoke on the Water'. Deep Purple will always be my favourite band of all time although I do think they've lost their edge in the last 20 years! Not the same without Blackers and Lord!

I prefer vinyl as well, but Spotify's just so available, everywhere. I can't take a stack of vinyl and a deck on the train or in the office.

Spotify basic is only 160kb/s, which doesn't sound fantastic throigh a hi-fi, but if you get the premium version, it's 320kb/s, which does sound very good indeed. To my cloth ears there's no difference to a CD.

And it's Vorbis, not MP3. I don't know if that's supposed to be better or worse though! !^_^
Exactly. Mp3 sounds perfectly acceptable unless you're listening through a high quality stereo. And if I'm listening through my stereo, I'll play a record.

I've often seen Status Quo on telly and thought I wouldn't mind seeing them live as they seem to be entertaining and put on a decent show but I would never sit down and listen to them.

Soooo true  The 80's were the decade when not only did the music die, but the assorted members of the '27 club' turned in their graves and were glad not to have to witness the carnage.
The late 70’s was the beginning of the end for me with films like Grease and Saturday Night Fever.

..actually i think that 'fluff' on the intro saounds better that the straight recorded version. Certainly whenever I cover that track in a band I usually copy the Made in Japan version as close as Possible..until I get to the solo when i go wild and get all shreddy ^_^. Highway star is another great track to play live...as is burn!
