..actually i think that 'fluff' on the intro saounds better that the straight recorded version. Certainly whenever I cover that track in a band I usually copy the Made in Japan version as close as Possible..until I get to the solo when i go wild and get all shreddy ^_^. Highway star is another great track to play live...as is burn!

Have you got any of your stuff to put up on here?

My favourite Blackmore solo is from 'Knocking at your back door' off the Knebworth live album, and my favourite intro is 'Burn' closely followed by 'You Fool No One' from the same album.

The late 70’s was the beginning of the end for me with films like Grease and Saturday Night Fever.
harsh.... Saturday night Fever is a great film.. with an even better soundtrack (IMHO)

talking about Deep Purple... i used to have a video in the 80's which I recall as being 'live at the Hollywood bowl', but i can't find a trace of it online. I don't think it's the California Jam video as I recall richie on stage left, not right. I also remember Richie throwing his amps off the front of the stage during his final guitar solo.

Ring any bells with any one? I'd love to see it again.

If that was Knebworth 1985......I was there^_^. DP were great. Don't like Meatloaf much but Scorpions, UFO and Blackfoot were really good too.

The Fleetwood Mac Live In Boston series are some of the best Mac material you can buy. Pees all over that Rumours nonsense.

Where did it go wrong with Status Quo?
When John Coghlan and Alan Lancaster left and they started doing tripe like Margarita Time.

Amen to that. I have (ahem) 22 Quo LP's in my collection from a mis-spent youth in the 1980s when I was already behind the times as a teenager. But when I actually got rock-loving friends to listen to the early albums they appreciated the talent...

I prefer vinyl as well, but Spotify's just so available, everywhere. I can't take a stack of vinyl and a deck on the train or in the office.

Spotify basic is only 160kb/s, which doesn't sound fantastic throigh a hi-fi, but if you get the premium version, it's 320kb/s, which does sound very good indeed. To my cloth ears there's no difference to a CD.

And it's Vorbis, not MP3. I don't know if that's supposed to be better or worse though! !^_^

And you can't skin up on a spotify!

Weren't Spinal Tap were based on the Quo?

Nigel Tufnell always reminds me of Jeff Beck.
What was the keyboard player of Spinal Tap called? He reminds me of Harvey Bainbridge of Hawkwind.
and David St Hubbins is almost Rick Parfitt.

but yes, when i see early Quo tunes such as Pictures of Matchstock Men, I always think of Tap doing Gimme Some Money or Cups & Cakes.
