Have been hankering after the bike of my youth, 531 Claud Butler, circa late 50s (the frame that is) my sisters bf found the frame on Derby tip, 78ish, I took it off his hands, Mercian did the honours with paintwork....,, gunmetal grey, with gold decals & lug lining.................. looked stunning (I'm going all misty eyed here) and finished off mostly with campag.
Anyway, Bike was eventually sold on
. Now looking to go back to steel, thinking of a Mercian audax special, probably favourite at the moment, and maybe look into a woodrup or similar, any alternatives or thoughts most welcome. There was a guy selling off 1/2. Doz Viking bikes on Fleabay recently, did anybody see them, beautiful!
