Not quite a road bike, but I'm very happy with my specialized vita.
I only ever " step through" when I'm wearing a skirt though. It is possible to get on any bike with a step through action, you just need to lean the bike quite steeply

I'm glad the title wasn't "I can't get my leg over" or we would be on at least 20 pages by now. Moving on, when I was knee high to a grasshopper and my dad was road racing he taught that the correct way to mount a bike [steady, steady] was to throw a leg forward over the handlebars cos they are lower on a road bike, while at the same time holding the saddle and leaning the bike towards you. Try it.

This sort of frame is very common in Germany, Holland and Denmark
A Google search for 'step through frame' should find quite a few

It gets a bit muddy along the canal tho'

I have to make do with this:

But she's promised I can buy a new one when I have some money.

Doing some blue sky thinking out of the box-storming, have you considered a recumbent? I've no real knowledge myself but there are plenty on here to set you on the way. Off the top of my head @Cunobelin would point you in the right direction (other bent riders are available)
