He should be quite good - been playing for 45 years now - got a good write-up in the Torygraph yesterday. Although not everyone appreciates the banjo.

In a backwater drinking establishment one night.....

Piano player - 'the piano's locked - anyone got a banjo?'

'You play banjo too? - what a talent!'

Piano player - 'No, but if we had a banjo we could use it to smash the lock off'

Steve Martin is one of those people that everybody is supposed to find funny...
Oh well.

Mildy amusing sometimes. But nowhere near as funny as he thinks. By a long way.

I saw him on the live half hour program version earlier in the week and he was good. It was a good line-up. The biggest disappointment was Jerry Cantrell's singing. I'll be watching or recording the full version tonight. Shame really because he can sing.

Planes, Trains, Automobiles is a brilliant film.

Steve Martin is pretty funny IMHO and excellent banjo player. Heard him a few weeks ago on the radio, Front Row R4 I think it was.

Just enjoyed Jools. To my embarrassment it was about half way thru his second number that it clicked - oh, it's that Steve Martin. One of those D'oh moments...

Yes I was a tad disapointed, well at least he's still alive:becool:

Later is such a hit and a miss these days. It used to be that you were always guaranteed to see a couple of great acts that you'd not seen before but these days they seem to be pandering more to what's popular. Still a good show but not as great as it was.

Don't slag off the banjo when the world still has the violin.
