Good God! A cheese that looks like a mouldy Brooks saddle.

Generally I like cheese, but I don't see the point of the really stink stuff, and blue cheese should be outlawed, or perhaps only fed to french people.

Black bomber or any cheese from 'The Truckle Company' is nicer. Hell, even Tickler is nicer.

Black Bomber is great but I do like a really mature Stilton that has reached the stage where it is so soft that it can be spread on toast. It does stink out the fridge, though.

i don't mind stinky cheese as long as it has a taste. don't like these exceptionally stinky types that are rather bland when you have a bite.
i am a big fan of blue cheese though, can't beat a bit of blue on a plate with carved ham, apples and some pickle. or hell just on its own with some grapes.
nom.

Having thought along similar lines to accountantpete I'm surprised there's more people that are indifferent to it than dislike it.
I'm going to give it another go later to see how wrong I was/you are.

Stinking Bishop sounds about as appealing as Malodorous Vicar..... never tried it.

I like to visit the creamery in Hawes - where you can try thumb size portions of all the cheeses they produce. Bishopdale is currently my favourite, but I am partial to the Wensleydale too.
If you go there -just remember not to tell people you have been visiting Hawes!

Is Stinking Bishop an anglo-market coup for Pont L'Eveque? I first came across it when I was about 14, and to answer those who dislike smelly but bland cheeses such as Brie and crap Camembert, Pont L'Eveque is like a strong flavoured camembert with added socks, and a smattering of goat. I love it.
It's alright. They obviously use the "Stinking" bit as a marketing ploy, but so what?
The name comes from the perry of the variety of pear into which the cheese is "washed". Madeby Charles Martell, an exceptional gifted cheesemaker IMO - he also makes fantastic other cheses, single and double gloucester and a more rare chesse called single berkerley which is very very tasty, and has a lovely mottled appearance.

P.S. Stinking Bishop is okay, but after years of washing the smell off my hands I got a bit bloody fed up of it!
