Stolen Dawes Galaxy in Bristol

Saw this & thought I would post it up here. Very sad loss, I hope he gets it back.

"A CYCLIST who rode 10,000 miles across Europe and Asia has had his treasured bike stolen – after he left it locked in a rack yards from the restaurant where he works.
Sam Swain rode the Dawes Super Galaxy hybrid touring bike from Ireland to Japan, passing through Turkey and Iran and spending three months crossing India before cycling through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, China and South Korea."

Thanks Arjimlad for posting. Sam was absolutely gutted. The bike meant so much to him after such an amazing trip. It is as hurtful to me too. Seems like someone has just trampled on your memories. I'm hoping by letting the media know about it, someone might see it. At the very least it might let the bike thieves know that it's not just about the money. All those poverty stricken countries and nobody touched our bikes. Back here in affluent England...don't get me started. It seems poignant that next week our book about the trip comes out: LONG ROAD, HARD LESSONS. Hard lessons indeed! The book is available from Amazon (ISBN 9780957200203). Hopefully if we sell enough it might buy him a replacement bike.

It might also have spurred the Police into paying a bit more attention to the crime, but here's hoping the bike gets too hot to handle & Sam somehow gets it back.

Fantastic news that Sam has got his bike back. Well spotted by a friend. Wish the police could be a bit more eagle eyed to start with surely the cctv has people monitoring it or what's the point in having it in the first place.

Here's hoping they catch the thief.
