It happens quite a bit to me ... and I don't worry about cars ... but more about passing pedestrians. My son once managed to ping one which hit my leg whilst we were both cycling side by side.

Not quite the same, but I remember trying to fish on a canal down south when I was a kid.

I went to cast off and promptly heard an

'OI!'

from the other bank. Turns out I'd been too enthusiastic and hit a guy in the face with the hook!

On t'way to work today me front tyre went ovver a stone in t'road and it pinged t'passenger door o't car to me reyt. Driver got reyt mad and started beepin meh like mad until he went daarn a different road. Musta thought I did it on purpose or summat.
It's a good sign, mate! It means your tyres are pumped up to a high-enough pressure . As for being concerned about pinging other vehicles, don't be. The reverse occurs a lot too: I've been hit by small stones flicked by other vehicles while cycling, and once a 4WD sprayed a wall of water right over the top of me.

I pinged one into a Jaguar garage across the road from home a while ago. Saw it sailing towards one of the cars on display and leave a ding on the door. I was only doing about 5mph before stopping at the lights.

I kept checking the price tag on the way past to see if it suddenly dropped from 35k when they spotted it - Still feel guilty when I go past!

If we were held responsible for pinging stones etc. then we would be permitted to find the folks who leave broken glass etc. in the road :pump:

Don't feel bad, it makes up for all the times I've been pinged by cars whislt on the bike. It hurts like buggery, especially when you are wearing shorts and it hits you in the shin.

I rode past some council men strimming the other week and the strimmer pinged a stone at me, it hurt but luckily it was only a small stone (or may even have been a twig).
Often when a new road surface has been "surface redressed" they put up speed limits like 15 or 20mph; Has anybody ever been prosecuted for ignoring these speed limits, once lost my windscreen through some pratt continuing to drive at 60+
When young and stupid once nearly lost my car by being a pratt on new chips. Learnt the lesson.
