My late father-in-law used this expression to describe constipation

He was born and raised in Sunderland, but lived all his adult life in Wolverhampton. I can't find anything on the web about where this phrase comes from

Anyone heard it before / know it's origin?

I've never heard it either but pluck could well have started out as plug or plughole.

I was introduced to two my a friend's daughter, they are from Kent
Both are descriptions of urgency as opposed to constipation

Turtling..... popping it's head out

Touching cloth - variation of above

The pluck could erroneously be refering to the bowel though pluck, strictly speaking, is the heart, lungs and liver. Mackems were not renowned for anatomical accuracy.
