Store in a Cool, Dry Place

When food packaging states 'Store in a cool, dry place', does it mean

I also chose cupboard.

I had to explain to a very confused Canadian that it is not imperative to keep eggs in the fridge!

They should never have stopped building houses with a larder.

In summer it would be the fridge; since the cupboards in my house are at room temperature they don't fit the "cool" criterion in the warmer months.

In winter, when the house is around 12-15C then the cupboard would be ok.
