Andrew, have you been in my house? I have a sloping floor in the room above.

I'm aware of the sloping floor, the chimney I presume to be shared with the kitchen as the chimney breast is the wall that separates them (and presumably the reason the kitchen has not been extended.)

Alternate them, one hanging, one floor standing. It can be a bit of a ball if you want to take out one of the wall mounted steeds but you can pack em in pretty tight.

Yes, the room above often also has a slope, usually towards the outside drain, this is not a feature but subsidence, usual causes are WWII bombing in the area which cracked the clay pipes, or dry summers that did the same thing (back in the dim and distant past when we had summers)

Also with those Victoria terrace houses, they got the good experienced brickies to build the fronts of the houses, whereas the rear of the houses was built with cheaper bricks by the apprentices, often with little supervision, hence the back of the houses is not the same quality as the front.

infact, the entire top floor slopes slightly, but the road is on quite a large hill...

the home buyers report did say it was initial settlement but nothing to worry about.

the home buyer report was the type of survey we had done before buying it. It's not something produced by the seller
