We stayed indoors it was very windy here, to my surprise a guy posted a ride he had done on the local Facebook group, 40 plus miles, how he stayed upright is a mystery.

yeah I stayed inside, seemed far too windy to risk a bike ride, but saw some people I follow on Strava had gone out, and one group even had the oh theres a fallen tree on our route try to move it, or carry bikes over it experience.

seemed quite alot of trees got blown down, but I only had a wheelie bin lid blow open.

No issues in Coventry. It did stop my club dinghy race , but that was more a lack of talent and the age of the sailors . 😀

I haven't sailed for 10 years but when I did race committees were always absolute thst it's the skipper's decision whether or not to got out not theirs.

One national championship offshore 1 designs (38 foot racing) for a 2 day race, pre race briefing and race committee said they could not get the committee boat out in the gales so would be setting a start line from the shore. They explicitly reminded all skippers it was skipper's responsibility, skipper's choice NOT Race Committee's. I decided we'd sit out the race cos the gales were just too strong. Others did head out but within the hour one boat back with a broken boom, then 30 mins later another back with a crew member with a broken arm, etc.

And we were smug as we got no damage to boat or crew and only one more point (DNC) than most others (DNS or DNF).

It was horrendous! I drove on the unlit A59 on Saturday evening, heading back home. The lights were on when I drove on it this evening. Someone said they'd have been working on British summertime hours on Saturday, changing yesterday/Sunday to winter hours, hence them working this evening. Is this true, I do not know, but that busy unlit road on Saturday was bad! Not only no lights, but the rain was so heavy my wipers couldn't cope with it! I drove over something in the road, with my car lifting on the passenger side as it went over whatever it was! I then hit a big mini lake of water sending this tidal wave across the road hitting another car. I didn't drive on the A59 tonight, thinking the lights might've been out again, instead I went on the bus. 🙄

Had to go out shopping a bit earlier than I'd have liked to avoid the rain and the stronger breeze on Saturday morning.
Needed a warm coat on the spectator banks at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

Bit of a non-event really.
