Strange Bird

Saw this bird whilst on my ride yesterday. Any idea what it is. It was quite large. Rooster sized. It was also quite noisy.

The family and I were off out yesterday afternoon to a local country park and whilst I was packing stuff into the boot of the car the little 'un said "Daddy there's a duck down the drive"

Turned out it was a female pheasant, how it got to be down our drive in the middle of suburbia I'll never know, but it was a strange sight none the less.

Did you see there's a helmeted Guineafowl, I prefer a non-helmeted Guineafowl myself, I was going to say there's no point to a Helmeted one but that would be untrue!

By coincidence, I was at a kiddie's farm with my granddaughter today (honest!) and my daughter asked what that bird was. Having completely forgotten what it was called I put on my most authoritative fatherly voice and told her it was a gobblecock. She believed me for about half a second.
