Strange issue when pedaling backwards

I did try it out earlier with clutch in off and on position, it made no difference. However, when playing around with the clutch on/off it did feel like the clutch tension was very overkill. I'm waiting on a new stem to get the handlebars in the right position before cabling it up. Pushing tension into the mech by hand isn't fun!

Good suggestion Sharky, I will let the chain wear out naturally first and then try an 11 speed when it's time to replace.
