Strange rear free wheel

I've just collected a Clements racing bike/road bike I'm guessing from the 1980's and have noticed the rear free wheel which seems to have teeth missing (as made) have you ever come across this ?

As an aside, change the title to Strange Sprocket and the confusion will stop.

I remember those - I had a 5 speed bike with a 14 - 34T block and about a 40T chain wheel. And a Huret rear mech. Skip tooth on the 34, and I've no idea if it helped the shifting or not.

And I thought it was just a cheap way of making a sprocket !!
