[QUOTE 3413322, member: 259"]I'm not a Beatles fan, but one of my oldest memories is of my big brother coming back from a six months long stint in the Merchant Navy and buying this single in Southampton on the way back home. Every time I hear it I feel I'm whisked back to being a small kid. They played Todd Rundgren's version a few moments ago when I was in the car and I all but burst into tears.

Any tunes that get the waterworks going for you?

Aw, yes but won't tell.

I went to see Dr Feelgood, supported by the Max Hatcher Band

Atthe interval the two bands came on stage and announced that the band Lynnrd Skynnrd had been involved in an air crash and early reports where that severall mebers of the band had died

The two bands then stood silently whilst Freebird was played

I had sen them at Knebworth the previous year, and it was always a good song, but this event changed its meaningful lyrics into something evocative.

Even now almost 40 years later the song still brings a tear to the eye

Yesterday......The Beatles. My elder brothers favourite. He died aged 39 from a brain haemorage . I didn't know he was my brother until after his death. He was born to my mum when she was 16 and unmarried so my Gran and Grandad adopted him and I believed he was my uncle. We couldn't have been closer but still feel so sad not to have known him as a brother.
