Unless of course, the car is legitimately being used by someone else in the household, like a wife...

As to why reoffend, there are two options. a) doesn't care, thick. Or any combination of both.

I assume both - don't care about what the consequences of their action could be, and thick assuming that it wouldn't happen again.

I don't understand this either if I'm honest. Surely if you need your car, you'd behave in the first place and not wait until point number 9.

Its too lax as it is.

I need to be able to drive for my job. Without a license, I would be sacked. Since this is a requirement, I am careful with my driving, even with no points on my licence. I have very little sympathy for people who manage to rack up 12 points, especially for repeatedly committing an offence that can so easily be avoided such as mobile phone use.

The courts don't like this type of repeat offence either, and will take away someone's license for it, even if this means their job.

There was an idiot at our work who managed to rack up 12 points (mainly speeding) and then got another 3, again for speeding, and lost his license and his job. Why didn't he just slow down after the first, or even second offence?

Me too. I drive for a living and always drive to speed limits and avoid using my phone. It's really not that difficult.

There is the very rare occasion where one misreads the road, or the signs and I can see how you may be able to get three points. But to be caught speeding 5 times within two years is just reckless.

And the mobile phone thing - if you must use a phone whilst driving, it is easy to remain within the law. AS I have said earlier, £10 buys you a hands free kit these days.

Agreed - but if someone "misreads the road" on a frequent basis then there is also a concern

Congrats to VOAB. Good catch. I must admit some sympathy for the perp' here though. Sounds like he's a bit of a mouth breather, and probably still can't understand the seriousness of his offence.

Which, of course, is exactly why he's got to be stopped.
