Well done Vike! - I still can't believe the amount of people I still see driving and using a mobile. ;)

I'm particularly fond of the parents doing it on the school run

Why would he lose his license? I know people that have 12 points but have proved that they need thier car and therefore have not been banned.

i've never understood this, if you need your car, then when you have 9 points (even 6 points) you should be driving as good as gold. If you get caught on the phone or speeding or jumping a red light then you should use your license and lose your job. the rest of us play by the rules why can't they?

The rest of "us" don't play by the rules though do they?

Do these people never learn.....Anyway that will be one less Moron on the road in a few weeks!;)

Good man! I just hope he is given a ban and doesn't do the pleading of 'if I lose my livence I can't work and my family will suffer" yadda-yadda-yadda and the court fall for it. Such 'mitigating circumstances' accepted by the judical system get right up my nose, as if his licence really was that essential, then perhaps he should have been a bit more careful about not doing things that can cause him to lose it.

Don't think this guy will get away with it...He'll probably drive once disqualified anyway, but as soon as the ban comes through then I will get a PNC marker put on the vehicle and submit some intel on the system. Very likely to sit up out side his house occasionally too just to check he doesn't drive!

That's very strange. Why would anyone who's been punished twice before for using a mobile while driving continue to do so? Good catch.

My next door neighbour got caught three times in quick succession ;) - in a local Police purge on mobiles -and had to go to court. The judge took a dim view of the repeat offending within a three month period and banned her from driving. It just didn't sink in that she was commiting a serious offence.

Incidently if I get caught on my mobile whilst driving(or in a company vehicle with the engine running) - it's instant dismissal for gross misconduct.

Just in case you don't know how to suck eggs. Note the position of the valves on the tyres to see if it's been moved.

A cunning tactic used by the Edinburgh Traffic Wardens to make sure you don't meter feed and stay in the same parking space.

Incidently, parking at the very back of the space - then the very front of the space - then in the middle of the space, seems to fool them. Off topic I know but a useful tip none the less.

Unless of course, the car is legitimately being used by someone else in the household, like a wife...

As to why reoffend, there are two options. a) doesn't care, thick. Or any combination of both.

I don't understand this either if I'm honest. Surely if you need your car, you'd behave in the first place and not wait until point number 9.

Its too lax as it is.

...or there is a small minority who simply believe all the propoganda ant taht they are doing nothing wrong?

We should be looking at the offences. It clearly becomes obvious thatthere are some drivers who simply will not drive in accordance with the law. Remoeve theri licenses permanently
