This might be a long shot but maybe some might know!
Just supplement my training in the winter months I have taken up 5x5 stronglifts however I can no longer do heavy squats due to osteoarthritis of the knee. So does anyone do this program without the squats? I try to get at least 60kms in the winter on the bike each week.
Thanks.

I tried it a few years ago but once you get towards the heavier end you can't squat heavy three times a week anyway.

I completely removed leg weights from winter training three years ago and changed over to specific torque sessions on the static bike. For me it's more relevant to riding the bike, is better on my knees, but probably more important was that I didn't enjoy leg weight training. The thought of doing squats three times a week gives me the fear!

Well before my knee 'issue' I could squat some very heavy weights but my right now has a tendency to collapse. I live the program to supplement my cycling but sadly squats are out.
