I have BMC Racemaster SLX01 like this http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bmc/race-master-slx01-2010-road-bike-ec021964 (mine is 2009 but the same). It has a frame that is part aluminium and part carbon. The seat tube is alu at the top end. The seatpost is a clever custom made one with a cam bolt that operates as an on/off affair, with a wedge in the bottom of the post rather like an old quill stem - see here http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/photos/on-show-eurobike-2009-part-10/87860

I am putting the bike away over the winter and went to remove the seatpost to get it into the loft. And it was stuck. Not for long luckily, but I bashed down on the saddle with a heavy wooden chopping block (not too hard). It then dropped and I was able to pull it out.

What should I do in the future to avoid problems of carbon to alu bonding?

Use carbon assembly paste to form a barrier between post and tube.
