The studs make a loud noise as you ride and grip might be reduced (on tarmac etc). It would largely depend if you bought studded tyres with studs in the central section of the tyre or just on the edges.
If you are asking whether you could buy some studded tyres for the current snow, and then just leave them on once the snow has gone, then I'd say that was a bad idea. However, if you are asking whether using studded tyres in the snow would be a problem if you came across the odd patch of clear road, then I'd say you have nothing to worry about.
You'll not find any shops with stock of snow tyres right now anyway - all sold out!

I agree that these tyres would perhaps offer a solution but do they come in 26" sizes or only 700C?
The marathon winters are designed for tarmac and ice, so you'd be fine. Just inflate them to the max for tarmac and let them down a bit for ice. The studs won't wear quickly.

If you are using Nokian or Schwalbe studded tyres, the studs will probably outlast the tyre. As far as I know, only Nokian and in the last couple of years, Schwalbe use Carbide studs. I think all other...I should probably say MOST others...use more common steel studs. Those wear out quickly.
I've been running Nokians in the winter for several years, and they still look like new...BUT...I don't run them all winter. I have them on a second set of wheels, and used to put them on the bike only on crappy days. Now, I have a second commuter bike for crappy weather, and leave the tyres on all winter, but only ride that bike on crappy days.

You ain't wearing out tungsten carbide studs anytime soon. I used mine last winter for 3-4 weeks with ice/snow, tarmac.... same again this year - as soon as Ice is about, out they come. I have Schwalbe Snow studs - MTB tyre. The reason you won't run them all winter is they are hard going, bit harder work than a knobbly tyre !

There are alternatives...
I did the traditional 18+ mile commute last night, arriving to some 6 inches of snow about 3 miles from home. Hard going from there on the 'bent, except for one cheap and cheerful interim fix using (ah, you guessed it) zipties.
Cheapy grip worked a treat.
