Manchester particularly bad? Don't really see many here. They tend to get the tram into town for some reason and you see a few milling around the main buildings and SU here.

I think it varies... For example, in my experience the students in Loughborough are ten times worse than those in York!

Its worrying where they cross the road at a small roundabout near the colledge, they just step out and make cars slam the anchors on just as the car is exiting the roudabout, then stop look and carry on dawdling across, could be our countries future leaders amongst them?Very worrying.

In Manchester...

Oxford Road - from Fallowfield is really bad with really bad ridden bikes.... I commute to the other end of the road, in south Manchester, but now that I have secure bike parking, I bike into the main campus area on a regular basis.

I don't touch Oxford Road at all...Europe's busiest bus route (but the drivers are very very tolerant of bikes...).... my risk is running into the student's on my bike... totally all over the place.....

I use the back routes in, less students, less traffic, and I am faster and don't get into any silly stuff...

Cambridge is bad overall...just don't ride a bike into the Uni Corridor in Manchester unless you pick a back route.....it is bad.... certainly until the weather sets in...........

When I was a student, I wrote an article for the student "newspaper" about how to cycle properly. Make sure you have lights, take up your road space and don't ride on the pavement was about the gist of it. I used to tell off my fellow students for dropping litter too. No wonder I had few friends ...

dont get it, i just started at MMU but i have lived in manc most of my life and its fine just lots of buses and pedestrians stepping out without looking. a non issue really? its a straight road how bad can it be? it would be dangerous to pick up speed round there but thats it

saw some amble across the road right in front of a motorbike, they jumped when he hooted at them!

I'm letting the freshers have this week off, nearly flattened some in the car the other day, but as of saturday i'll have given the car back (you want to do a half hour motorway commute at 7am by bike?) due to finishing my summer job and starting my final year.

at which point, anyone in coventry, beware of the orange road bike, it's quite fast ;)

Roads should be clear till they get out of bed for the mid-afternoon repeat of Columbo and their bi-weekly lecture.
