I was an aircraft engineer for 25 years in the RAF. Throughout my career I was tempted to remaster to Loadmaster on Air Sea Rescue helicopters. These are the guys who dangle on a cable pulling people off sinking ships in raging seas. The job is known somewhat tongue-in-cheek throughout the RAF as 'Dope on a rope'.

I really regret now that I never went for it. The amount of job satisfaction gained from saving lives on a daily basis must be phenomenal.

Anyway, I left the RAF 12 years ago and am now a software engineer. Really exciting...

I think it was Wessex and Sea King choppers used in my day.

We mostly used Pumas to ferry Pongoes about. Also Chinooks, as they were so bloody dangerous no one else would go near them!

Accepted the (with hindsight obvious) advances of the mum of one of my fellow pupils that we ran into on the last holiday I went on with my parents.
You are Benjamin Braddock and ICMFP....

Started cycling years ago. Always had a love for it but was happier sat watching it on telly. The benefits to my health and waist line since starting are amazing.

If only........And being a naive 16 year old, the chances of being discovered in that <30 second window would have been pretty small.
But who knows what that had've done to my confidence from that point on.Perhaps I'd be a burnt out CEO by now.
You (ahem) got off lightly. Had "Mrs Robinson" had her wicked way with you, your life would probably have got alarmingly complicated extremely quickly.

When I was in my mid to late teens, I wanted to work in the radar or electronic warfare section on the below. I've always slightly regretted that I didn't ever have experience of working in the Navy. Even considering what happened to HMS Sheffield in 1982, it didn't put me off the idea, but it never happened...
