Stupid hand gestures.

Why do white MTBers, boarders, BMXers, surfers and other self-appointed cool dudes make stupid hand gestures, mostly involving forefinger and little finger pointed sideways? In Spain this means the horns of the goat, which means you're a goat-shagger or your wife or GF is cuckolding you. I know it's borrowed from black street culture but why do these white self-gratification artists do it?

I know what you mean, but I use this sign on occasions as a sign of thanks whilst out cycling, or as a sign of farewell to a friend.
