On my rides to school I normally forget books and stuff, but I never need them anyway.
On one day when I had to get my GCSE results, I cycled to school and realised I forgot my bike lock, so I phoned my friend and asked him to wait next to my bike until I got back

Colin J, I expect it would have dawned on you at about 6.30am the following morning.
Actually after about 90 seconds, it finally dawned on me that the factory was shut for the day. I was angry with myself for a few seconds and then felt relieved and went back home to bed!

Have forgoten to take a belt before and used a bit of string for the day but forgot my trousers today ,cycling tights look a bit odd with the rest of the uniform ,luckilly not busy so was able to scoot back for them just getting back as the rain started so a good result really:biggrin:

Worst thing I have forgotten coming back from work were my house keys, I lived 60 miles away from work. I was not best pleased.

Not forgot to TAKE to work but tonight went to leave, got changed, unlocked the bike, leaped on, tried to clip in. Got frustrated wondering why my feet wouldn't co-ordinate to clip in then realised I was in the office shoes

I keep most of my working clothes wardrobe at work so luckily have not managed to forget clothes.

Think the biggest pain thing I have forgotten was my house key.. a fact I realised as my BF drove past me going back into his work after his dinner break on his back shift!!!

I now have a key that lives in my bike tool bag (as well as one secreted in the garden somewhere !!) as back ups.

I have at least one of everything in the office at all times.

Rule 1 - I could walk/cycle in stark naked after a week living on the streets/under a bush and be ready for a meeting with the MD in 15 mins

Rule 2 - I have an 'emergency pack' of socks, pants, shirt, trousers, tie, cuff links, and an aeroplane wash kit (shower gel, razor, micro towell, toothbrush etc) that lives in my locker at all times. In my desk I have a spare cycle lock, key and locker key.

Rule 3 - Finally I have a rule that I never take the 'last one' home in the case of shirts for example, so last Fridays worn shirt is better than no shirt at all

The way to build up the 'Office Emergency Kit' is next time a shirt, tie, shores, suit is on it last legs and ready to go to the great charity shop in the sky, keep it, and add to the office emergency kit.. If you dont have a locker, or your locker is not big enough there is always the file storage box that no one thinks twice about under your desk

+1 Spot on.

Having forgotten most items at some time, and with alarming regularity I now keep at work:

1 x suit (cheap M&S "essentials" type but presentable)
1 x matching shirt and tie (old but serviceable)
1 x pair of shoes
1 x pair of black socks
towel
shower gel
shampoo
deodorant
body spray
comb
reading glasses
Packet of meusli
Box of Cuppa Soups
A £5 note
Spare mobile phone (payg)
Spare house keys

And I never take home the last shirt, tie, socks, etc., etc. which sometimes means I end up with two shirts, etc. but that's better than none!

That about covers most eventualities

One winter morning, as is the drill, I dressed in the dark to avoid waking Mrs B. As train arrived at Euston I unfolded the Brompton and went to tuck trousers in socks only to spot the 1 brown/1 black "pair" of shoes!!!

Forgot my mobile on 07/07/05. Much doubt about operation of PT after bombings - had to buy a cheap PAYG spare.

wallet, keys for my office, warrant card (incl. acess swipe:sad:) underpants, socks, phones (did that today!).

I now have a wardrobe full of spare shirts, trousers, socks, pants etc. and very much agree with the "don't take the last one home" bit.

I keep a full washbag at work with shower gel, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. I have it work, not cos I forget stuff, but cos I can;t see the point in adding extra weight in my panniers.

Same goes for the two suits, several shirts, pants, socks, jeans, trainers, cufflinks etc I have in the (small but serviceable) wardrobe in my office.

All I every take to work with me in my panniers is bike repair kit; food for the day; pants and socks; and waterproof. My pannier still weights loards though

Part of my problem is that I work at two different locations so as well as thinking of clothes and suchlike I also have to carry laptop, big wallet of CDs, USB hard drive, IT tools, etc as well as bike spares and tools, so my panniers always seem to weigh a ton. I can hardly even lift the back of the bike with one hand!

Okay, today was the stupidest.

I forgot my bike!

Now I realise that running TO work is one thing but as my work is at the bottom of a hill, I have to run up the bugger on the way home ;)
